Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu accused the BJP of resorting to unconstitutional tactics to overthrow the Congress government in the state.

Lashing out at the saffron party, the chief minister called it unfortunate that BJP legislators in Vidhan Sabha, who never wanted the budget to be passed during the session, resorted to unconstitutional tactics in a bid to overthrow the government.

The people of the state have elected the government and it will complete its tenure in the service of the people, asserted Sukhu while addressing the pubic at Pakka Bharo after laying the foundation stone of much awaited bus stand in his home district Hamirpur.

“For the last 15 years, the construction work for the bus stand kept in limbo. Now the foundation stone has been laid,” he said, adding that the project would be completed in one and a half years with an outlay of Rs. 65 crore.

“I had never imagined that a few MLAs from the district would go against the party and hinder the pace of development in the district for which he was consistently working day and night,” said Sukhu, adding that the MLAs not only deceived the government but also the people of the respective constituencies.

He said despite financial constraints, the government has taken various historic decisions for the welfare of the people in the last 14 months, which prove that we are here to serve the people and not to enjoy power.

Due to the earnest efforts of the government, the revenue of the state rose above 20 per cent, he said. “Even in these dire fiscal conditions, the government has completed its five guarantees within a year and three months. We have announced Indira Gandhi Pyari Bahana Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojna, wherein Rs 1,500 will be provided to all the eligible women from next fiscal,” he added.

“Besides, We restored the OPS in the first cabinet meeting after the formation of the government and due to this decision many economic restrictions were imposed on us by the central government, Sukhu said.

“We have increased the procurement price of both cow and buffalo milk to Rs. 45 and Rs. 55 respectively to facilitate the farmers to sell their milk to milk federation to strengthen their economy,” said the Chief Minister.
