Former Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Vinayak Raut, his son and five others have been booked after his daughter-in-law alleged she was physically, mentally and financially tortured, besides being subjected to black magic, a police official said on Sunday.
The FIR was registered on June 10 at Kapurbawdi police station, PTI reported.

The complaint was filed by Girija Raut (38), the estranged wife of Raut’s son Jitesh, also referred to as Gitesh.
“The case was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act for physical, mental, and financial torture and also subjecting her to occult rituals,” the official said.
Apart from Vinayak Raut, his wife Shamal has also been booked by police, The Indian Express reported.
As per reports, Girija and Jitesh tied the knot on December 3, 2017. She has claimed that prior to their marriage the Raut family falsely claimed that Jitesh owned multiple properties, which included a flat in Vakola building and a bunglow, assuring her that they will live there after the wedding.
However, she has claimed that she was taken to a slum residence in Vakola immediately after the marriage. After her parents raised questions over this, they were allegedly abused and threatened.
She further alleged that her in-laws forced her to quit her job and work in her husband’s transport business without any financial independence. She stated that they travelled across India and abroad, including Norway, Dubai and Australia, adding that she was repeatedly humiliated, assaulted and subjected to mental harassment.
Between 2018 and 2022, her husband and in-laws allegedly took her to self-styled godmen in Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri, where they forced her to take part in occult rituals, such as consuming cow urine.
However, Vianayak Raut has denied all the allegations and claimed that the complaint by her is a fallout of an ongoing divorce dispute.
He has claimed that Girija demanded ₹5 crore, a 3-BHK flat, an automatic car and ₹2 lakh in monthly maintenance during mediation.
“We will respond before the court,” Raut said.
