Director General (homeguards and fire services) Shobha Ohatkar, Bihar on Friday issued a showcase notice to her junior, IG Vikas Vaibhav, for accusing her of hurling “abuses” at him on a daily basis.

In the showcause notice, the DG alleged that IPS Vikas tried to tarnish the image of his senior officer by making baseless allegations through social media.

DG Shobha Ohatkar, rejecting Vikas’ 60 days leave application, has asked him to reply to the notice within 24 hours. This comes after screenshots of Vikas’ tweet went viral on various social media platforms on Thursday where he alleged that he is enduring the abuses from the DG almost daily.

“Why action should not be taken against him,” the DG asked in the notice.

The Showcause notice was served on IPS Vikas citing provisions of Rule 3 of the All India Services Conduct Rules with the allegations of violations of Official Secret Act.

All-India officers on duty are bound to maintain confidentiality while performing their official duty. “If he fails to reply within the stipulated period of time, then she can recommend the government for suitable action against him,” police sources said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed his senior officials in the home department to probe the matter related to the verbal duel between DG Shobha Ohatkar and her junior IG Vikas Vaibhav.

Talking to media persons here, Kumar said that the grievances or differences between the two officers should be sorted out in the internal meeting of the department. Not on the social media platform, he added.

Officers working in government should not share his grievances in public social platform. This is not his job. He/she should share his grievances to his seniors privately, CM said.

However, the CM, who is also holding the home department, has directed his officials to probe this matter thoroughly. After proper investigation, the CM will personally review it.
