‘A sweet start to your civic journey’ is the tagline of the campaign under which 200 first-time voters in each district are being given small boxes of specially-branded halwa after casting their votes.
“Starting new journey with sweet.. Halwa, after her first Vote,” Chief Electoral Officer Kerala wrote on X, along with a picture of a first-time voter with a small sweet box.
The initiative is part of ECI’s efforts to increase youth voter turnout in the Kerala Assembly Elections. The poll body has set a target of above 85 per cent turnout in Kerala.
Of the total 2.71 crore voters, the South Indian state has 4,66,408 voters, including 2,34,707 male and 2,31,701 female, in the 18-19 age group.
