Delhi Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma has filed a defamation complaint in the Rouse Avenue Court against former legislator Saurabh Bharadwaj.

Mr Praveen Kumar, Advocate for the complainant, informed that the case was filed after Bharadwaj made posts alleging Parvesh Verma’s role in the S. S. Mota Singh School Trust, where a POCSO case has been registered by the parents of a girl student against members of the staff.

In tweets posted on 15 May 2026 and 16 May 2026, Mr Bharadwaj alleged that Mr Parvesh Verma misused his position as a Minister to appoint his alleged associate as a trustee in a private school trust worth nearly ₹500 crores and claimed that the trust belonged to him.

The tweets further insinuated that Mr Verma had exercised influence in favour of employees of the school run by the trust, who are accused in the POCSO case.

Mr Verma took serious exception to the allegations and served a legal notice on Mr Bharadwaj, asking him to withdraw the tweets and tender an unconditional apology.

However, despite receiving the notice, the tweets were not withdrawn and no apology was tendered. This led to the filing of the defamation case in the MP and MLA Court at the Rouse Avenue Court Complex.

The case was listed today before Mr Paras Dalal, Ld. ACJM, who accepted the case and fixed 9 and 11 June for recording the pre-summoning evidence of the complainant.
