Congress promises of waiving House Tax dues and exempting villages from the tax bracket

Delhi Congress on Wednesday, promised to waive off House Tax dues, half future tax and exempt villages from House Tax bracket to end the corruption and Inspector Raj in the Tax Department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Chaudhary Anil Kumar said that Congress was on a strong wicket in the MCD elections, and the party’s first priority after returning to the helm in the MCD would be to streamline house tax collection. We will waive off the dues of residential tax payers, and future tax will be halved, while house tax will be exempted for villages. This will provide relief to 25 lakh house tax payers.
Releasing a Congress vision document on house tax at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, DPCC president said that while Congress is raising relevant issues, both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are skirting them in the MCD elections to divert the attention of people from their total failures in controlling air and water pollution, arresting corruption, unemployment, price rise and unfulfilled promises.
He said that BJP and AAP together have made Delhi the most polluted and most corrupt city in the world.
He added that the Congress Government had exempted the villagers from House Tax, but the BJP brought them into the tax bracket. Congress would encourage all those in the tax bracket to pay tax to ensure 100% tax collection and boost the revenue of the MCD.
Chaudhary said that the current valuation of property is based on the 18-year-old first Municipal Valuation Committee (MVC) implemented during the Congress Government, as the BJP-ruled MCD did not implement the 2nd and 3rd MVC, due to its incompetence and inaction. Fourth MVC was constituted on February 1, 2017 by the Kejriwal Government whose recommendation was also not implemented.
On the other hand, Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the DPCC and former Minister Dr. Narendra Nath said that after a meeting of the Disciplinary Committee at the DPCC office, it was decided to issue show-cause notices to those who were indulging in anti-party activities, and those who were contesting against official Congress candidates, in the MCD election. They have been given 24 hours to reply to the show-cause notices. It is said that those who will not reply to the show-cause notices in the stipulated time, strict action will be taken against them.
