On 12 May 2026, Twisha Sharma, 33, was found hanging in her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills. The FIR named her husband and mother-in-law on allegations of dowry harassment.
The FIR has been registered on the strict directives of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The police in Bhopal have registered an FIR on Wednesday against Congress MLA from Bhopal, Arif Masood, on charges of using forged documents to obtain a No Objection Certificate two decades ago for running the ‘Indira Priyadarshini College’ in the Khanugaon area of the city.
The FIR has been registered on the strict directives of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The High Court Bench of Justice Atul Shreedharan and Justice Pradeep Mittal had directed the Bhopal Commissioner of Police to register the FIR against Masood as well as the officials of the MP Higher Education Department who were allegedly involved in providing the recognition to the College through forged papers and also for not taking any action in the matter for the past 20 years.

The Court also ordered to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter in detail. The three-member SIT has been formed and it is headed by Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Sanjeev Shami. The Court has directed the SIT to submit its report in 90 days.

The College is operated by the ‘Aman Welfare Society’ of which Arif Masood is the Secretary.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shalini Dixit, the FIR against Masood has been registered at the Koh-e-Fiza Police Station under Sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the IPC.
The High Court has also issued orders for a complete ban on new admissions in the College for the next session. However, the Court permitted the College to continue for the current session in the interest of the more than 1000 students currently studying in the institution.
