CM Sukhu seeks enhanced central aid for health infrastructure in Himachal

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda at his residence in New Delhi on Wednesday evening and sought increased central assistance for strengthening Himachal Pradesh’s health infrastructure.

The Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to enhance the annual allocation for the State under the National Health Mission (NHM) by Rs. 200 crore in the next financial year.

He also requested the early approval for setting up three dedicated Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in the state to improve treatment facilities for patients with critical ailments.

Highlighting Himachal’s difficult topography and limited financial resources, Sukhu requested that the Centre’s share under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme continue at the 90:10 ratio.

He also apprised Nadda of the extensive damage caused by this year’s natural calamities and sought central support for rehabilitation and infrastructure reconstruction in the affected regions.

The Chief Minister further urged Nadda to take up with the Union Finance Minister the issue of enhancing Himachal’s borrowing limit by 2 percent to help the state manage post-disaster recovery and development works.

The Union Health Minister assured Sukhu that the demands would be examined on priority and promised continued support to his home state.

He appreciated the Himachal Government’s initiatives to strengthen healthcare services and improve medical infrastructure across the state.
