Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is poised to expand his cabinet, with three new ministers likely to take the oath at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday, raising the council’s strength to 14. Party insiders confirmed that the induction will ensure representation from the Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, and the general category, aligning social and regional considerations.

The expansion is expected to include a reshuffle of portfolios, amid discussions over the possible exclusion of a few current ministers. On Monday night, legislators Gajendra Yadav, Guru Khushwant Saheb, Minister Laxmi Rajwade, and MLA Rajesh Agrawal met the Chief Minister at his residence, intensifying political speculation.

Senior leaders, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Tuesday’s cabinet meeting will be followed by consultations between the state government, the RSS, and the BJP organisation. “Final decisions will be taken in consensus, with a focus on strengthening governance and ensuring wider representation,” one party functionary added.

Political observers note that Sai’s first cabinet expansion targeted tribal-dominated Bastar and Surguja, reinforcing the BJP’s social base. The latest reshuffle, analysts say, seeks to balance inclusivity with political strategy ahead of future elections.
