Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Full Schedule: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday announced the schedule for the highly anticipated Lok Sabha elections 2024. Polling will be held in seven phases with first phase beginning from April 19. The results will be announced on June 4.

“First phase to be held on 19th April, second phase on 26th April, third phase on 7th May, fourth phase on 13th May, fifth phase on 20th May, sixth phase on 25th May and the seventh phase on 1st June,” Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said while announcing the schedule.

Addressing a press conference, the CEC said, “We are committed to give the nation a truly festive, democratic environment. The term of the 17th Lok Sabha is due to expire on 16th June 2024. The terms of the Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim are also due to expire in June 2024. Elections are due in Jammu and Kashmir…,” CEC Kumar said.

According to the Election Commission of India, there are a total of 96.8 crore electors, of them, 47.1 crore are females and 48,000 are transgenders.

“Total electors encompass 49.7 crore males, 47.1 crore females, and 48,000 transgender voters. Additionally, 1.8 crore first-time voters have been added to the list,” the CEC said.

The Election Commission said that elderly, disabled will be able to vote from home. The home voting facility will be extended to individuals aged 85 and above, as well as for voters with a 40 per cent or more disability.

CEC Kumar further informed that “Cash movement worth around Rs 3,400 was restricted in the last 11 state assembly elections in Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Tripura. This shows an increase of 835 per cent…”
