Centre must take responsibility for failure to safeguard nation’s security: Maha Congress

Congress leader Nana Patole

Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole told media persons on Tuesday that the Central government should take responsibility for the failure to safeguard the country’s security.

“The Delhi blast is a cowardly attack on our country. Modi has misled the country. The Central government has failed in safeguarding the country’s security and it must take responsibility for this failure,” Patole said.

“The Union home minister is busy with the Bihar election campaign. This incident is the failure of the Modi government. The BJP fooled the people of this country by showing a 56-inch chest and giving false assurances that they can only secure this country to come to power. Now, Kashmir is unsafe, Delhi is unsafe. So, where did the 56-inch chest go? The truth behind the false assurances has been exposed. This incident is a cowardly attack on our country. We condemn it,” The Congress leader said.

“We don’t want to do politics with this issue. I know what BJP’s answer will be. There are BJP governments in Delhi and the Centre. So, where did these terrorists come from? All these questions have come up. This is not the first such incident. Pulwana happened and then the Pahalgam attack happened. On both occasions, the Congress was with the government. But the way the government played politics after the Pahalgam incident and the way the people were told after ‘Operation Sindhoor’ that there would be no more terror attacks, has got exposed,” Patole said

“This is a very big incident. In fact, even if the loss of life seems to be less now, the death toll will increase further. It happened at a very prominent location. Whether it is the home minister of the country or the prime minister, they are busy trying to make their party win the Bihar elections. They have no plan for national interest or the security of the country,” Patole said.

“Why is the Union home minister staying in a hotel without CCTV cameras in Bihar? Who are the ones meeting him and why is it all being hidden? All these questions have come up. Therefore, our stand is that the Central government should accept responsibility for this incident in the true sense,” Patole said.

“Even when the 26/11 Mumbai attack happened, we have opposed anybody who attacks the country. The Congress and our leader Rahul Gandhi made this position clear. When the Pahalgam incident happened, we were with the government. The government will have to answer many questions. The BJP and their allies are losing the Bihar election and now they are trying to win Bihar elections by rigging, but the people of Bihar are with the Congress alliance. They will vote for the Mahagatbandhan,” Patole said.

The Congress leader alleged that VVPAT machines were spotted lying on roads after the first phase of polling in Bihar concluded. He said that there were attempts to “rig elections somehow”.

“The way the first phase of the election happened, VVPAT machines were spotted lying on the roads, and CCTV coverage of strong rooms was being shut down. The country’s Union home minister has been camping in Patna, and CCTV coverage of his hotel has been disabled. This suggests that the BJP and its allies are losing. So they are trying to rig the election somehow,” Patole alleged.
