Reacting to the charges made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Global investors Summit in Lucknow on Friday, Samajwadi Party president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the BJP government at the Centre had discriminated against Uttar Pradesh when SP was in power in the state.

“The prime minister had come to shine his politics by making false charges against the previous governments. The Central government did not give even a single rupee for the development works done by Samajwadi government in UP. The SP government had built the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the budget of the state government,” he claimed.

In a statement here on Saturday, Yadav, who is Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, said, “BJP are talking about Jewar Airport, but the truth is that the Samajwadi government had asked for NOC to build it. But the BJP government at the Center, showing partiality, neither gave the NOC for the construction of the International Airport in Noida nor for Hirangaon in Firozabad.”

Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP Government had made a similar attack at the time of the last investors meet, claiming MoUs worth lakhs of crores of rupees, but no investment landed on the ground, nor did people get any employment.

“The BJP Government diverts attention by organising similar events to mislead the public. The government should tell how much MoU was signed during the last investment meet and how many were implemented,” he added.

Yadav said that the BJP Government should speak about the status of the universities being built in the name of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Major Dhyanchand and Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh. “Why the BJP Government has not been able to start these universities till date? A university was announced named after Atal ji, but now it is being run on the campus of the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences established by the Samajwadi government,” he alleged.

The SP president asked why the BJP government reduced the standard of the  Bundelkhand and Purvanchal Expressway and did not fulfill the standards of the Indian Road Congress.

He recalled that Jio and Mukesh Ambani along with Kumarmangalam Birla also came during the SP regime too.
