In a coordinated international operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has secured the return of two wanted fugitives from the United Arab Emirates, including a key accused in a multi-crore bank fraud case.
The move is being seen as part of a broader push by Indian agencies to tighten the net around economic offenders and organised crime networks operating across borders.

Aalok Kumar, also known as Yashpal Singh, was wanted by Haryana Police in multiple cases related to cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy. Investigators say he was at the heart of a racket that helped people with criminal backgrounds secure Indian passports using fake identities and forged addresses. He is also accused of facilitating illegal immigration.
Kamlesh Parekh, the second fugitive, was wanted in connection with a massive banking fraud that caused losses worth ₹2,672 crore to a consortium of banks led by the State Bank of India. According to officials, Parekh and other promoters allegedly diverted loan funds through overseas entities and manipulated transactions using fraudulent means.
How the UAE operation was executed
Both accused were tracked in the UAE after Red Notices were issued through INTERPOL channels. UAE authorities detained them, following which extradition procedures were completed in coordination with Indian agencies.
The operations involved close coordination between the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs and international law enforcement agencies.
Parekh was brought to Delhi on May 1, 2026, and has since been taken into custody by the CBI.
Over 150 fugitives brought back in recent years
Officials said the latest action reflects sustained efforts to strengthen international cooperation in criminal matters. More than 150 wanted criminals have been brought back to India in recent years through INTERPOL mechanisms and coordinated diplomatic engagement.
