Ahead of the Independence Day, a cache of grenades, pistols, rifles and ammunition was on Thursday recovered by security forces in the arduous topography of Kath Panjal nullah near the LoC in Poonch district.

Army spokesman Lt Colonel Devender Anand said acting proactively on a tip-off, joint teams of the Army and the J&K Police launched search operations in the general area of Chapriyan in Poonch district and busted a terrorist hideout of arms and ammunition.

The cache includes one AK-56 Rifle with three magazines, one 7.62 rifle of foreign origin, four pistols with seven empty magazines, one revolver, four empty AK-47 magazines, 14 grenades,  two water bottles, two bags, 273 rounds of AK 47 rifle, 97 rounds of AK 56 rifle, 31 rounds of pistol and other warlike stores.

Officials claimed that this haul had scuttled the nefarious designs of the inimical forces to attempt and derail peace in the region.
