In a major diplomatic victory for India, the BRICS leaders on Monday called for efforts to crackdown on terror groups emanating from Pakistan and “strongly” condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

The leaders expressed concerns on the security situation in the region and named terror groups like Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Haqqani Network, Al-Qaeda, and Taliban among others.

“BRICS urges nations to adopt a comprehensive policy in combating terrorism, countering radicalisation and curbing terror financing. BRICS calls for expeditious finalisation and adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism by the UN,” the MEA said.

Furthermore, PM Narendra Modi has offered to host a conference on deradicalisation at a restricted meeting of BRICS leaders, the MEA said.
