Several units of blood and plasma have reportedly been stolen from the blood bank at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhopal, prompting police to register a First Information Report (FIR) and launch an investigation.

According to the police, Dr. Gyanendra Prasad, in charge of the AIIMS blood bank, filed a complaint at the Bagh Sevaniya police station, alleging that units of blood and plasma had been disappearing from the facility over a prolonged period.

Suspecting possible insider involvement, AIIMS officials had recently installed CCTV cameras within the blood bank premises.

Surveillance footage allegedly captured an outsourced employee, identified as Ankit Kelkar, stealing two units of plasma and handing them over to an unidentified individual.

Sub-Inspector Hemraj Kumrey of Bagh Sevaniya police station confirmed that an FIR has been registered against both Ankit Kelkar and the unidentified recipient.

Both accused individuals have been absconding since the complaint was filed. Police have launched a search operation to trace them.
