A closed-door meeting of the Brahmin legislators of the ruling BJP has created a stir in Uttar Pradesh politics.
The BJP leadership was displeased with these Brahmin Legislators and even the newly elected state president, Pankaj Chaudhary, has reprimanded all the MLAs who attended the meeting to create a Brahmin family.

However, the principal opposition Samajwadi Party has immediately taken the opportunity to attack the BJP and even gave an invitation to these disgruntled Brahmin legislators to join the SP.
It has been reported that the meeting of Brahmin MLAs on December 23 evening was attended by over 25 legislators. These BJP leaders discussed the neglect met by the Brahmin leaders within the party. They were served litti-chokha and fruits.
The meeting was held at the Lucknow residence of Kushinagar BJP MLA P N Pathak (Panchanand Pathak) during the legislature’s winter session, to mark his wife’s birthday.
There are currently 52 Brahmin MLAs in the UP Assembly, 46 of whom belong to the BJP.
During the last monsoon session of the legislature, Thakur MLAs demonstrated their assertiveness by holding a meeting in the name of family.
Now, the meeting of Brahmin MLAs has increased the challenge for the BJP and the Yogi Adityanath government.
But BJP took a stern stand on the activities of these legislators and state president Pankaj Chaudhary has issued a warning and advice to BJP MLAs, though he did not take any names.
Chaudhary, in a statement on Thursday night, said, “Don’t fall prey to any kind of negative politics. The BJP is a party of principles and ideals. Any such action is not in keeping with the party’s constitution and ideals. The BJP and its workers do not believe in politics centered on family or class interests.”
While giving a warning, state president said that if any public representative of BJP repeats such activity in future, it will be considered indiscipline.
The state BJP president said, “During the assembly session, some public representatives organized a special dinner, where issues concerning their community were discussed. We have spoken with the MLAs. We have clearly stated to everyone that such activities are not in accordance with the constitutional traditions of the BJP. We have urged the MLAs to remain vigilant in the future.”
He said all public representatives present at the meeting were told that such activities send a wrong message to society.
Sources say the meeting discussed the fact that while many castes within different caste divisions have become powerful, Brahmins have fallen behind. The voice of Brahmins is being suppressed in caste politics and they have been ignored.
These MLAs also believe that although they have a Deputy Chief Minister from their community, but have not been given power.
Meanwhile, responding to the meeting of BJP’s Brahmin legislators, Samajwadi Party general secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav in Ghazipur today said that people from all sections of society, including the Brahmin community, are very unhappy with the BJP government.
He appealed to those members of the Brahmin community who are dissatisfied to join the Samajwadi Party, assuring them that they would receive full respect.
Yadav also added that many people from the upper castes have always been associated with the Samajwadi Party.
