Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and assured him “all support” to mitigate the flood situation in the state.

“Hon’ble PM Sh @narendramodi has spoken to Bihar CM @NitishKumar regarding the flood situation in parts of the state,” tweeted Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.

“Centre assures all support to Bihar government to mitigate the flood situation. Teams of @NDRFHQ are in Bihar for rescue and relief work,” he said in another tweet.

The flood situation in Bihar continues to be grim. On Sunday CM Nitish Kumar sought the help of the Army and the Indian Air Force in relief and rescue of thousands of people affected by the deluge.

Nearly half a dozen districts in Seemanchal and Koshi areas in the state were the worst affected following heavy rains during the past three days.

All major rivers in Bihar are in spate after heavy rains in their respective catchment areas in Nepal and Bihar.

Floodwaters have submerged hundreds of villages, affecting thousands of people. So far, no casualty has been reported due to Bihar floods, officials said.
