A high-stakes battle in Bihar showcased star candidates in several constituencies. These constituencies and candidates hit the headlines ahead of the Bihar polls. Be it popular singer Maithili Thakur, who was fielded from the BJP, or RJD select popular Bhojpuri actor Khesari Lal Yadav’s wife, or lone warrior Tej Pratap, these key constituencies were the most talked about owing to the populist choices of the key parties like the RJD and the BJP. Early trends showed that the BJP’s Shatrughan Yadav was leading from the Chhapra Assembly seat. Raghopur
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s family bastion Raghopur is witnessing a three-way contest with BJP’s Satish Kumar and Jan Suraaj Party’s Chanchal Kumar. As per the ECI trend of 4:30 pm, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav is leading, while BJP’s Satish Kumar is trailing.
Tarapur
BJP’s Samrat Choudhary, now Deputy Chief Minister and a key strategist for the party, is contesting here after 15 years. Also in the fray is RJD’s Arun Shah, who had lost this seat by a narrow margin in a recent bypoll. It appears the voters were waiting for the strategist’s return, as Choudhary is now leading, while Arun Shah is trailing.
Mahua
Mahua is witnessing one of the most intense personal battles in the Bihar political landscape as Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Lalu Prasad and founder of the Janshakti Janata Dal, seeks to reclaim his old seat and reshape his political identity. However, he is trailing badly in fourth position. LJP’s Sanjay Kumar Singh is leading, while RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Roshan is giving a tough fight and is currently in second place.
Alinagar
In Alinagar, popular folk singer Maithili Thakur is hoping to turn her music stardom into political success. The BJP candidate is up against Binod Mishra of the RJD and Biplaw Chowdhary of the Jan Suraaj Party. It seems Thakur’s voice has created magic in the political arena as well, as she is currently leading by 14,635 votes, while Binod Mishra is giving her a tough fight.
Lakhisarai
Lakhisarai has long been loyal to Vijay Kumar Sinha. The BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister is aiming for his sixth win. His challenger is Suraj Kumar of the Jan Suraaj Party. BJP is leading; Amresh Kumar is trailing, and Suraj Kumar is in the second position.
Arrah
Arrah has remained unpredictable, with power shifting between the BJP and RJD over the last decade. In 2025, the contest remains a close-neck battle. CPI-ML’s Quyamuddin Ansari is leading, while BJP’s Sanjay Singh “Tiger” is trailing.
Mokama
Jailed JDU candidate Anant Singh won the Mokama assembly constituency with a margin of 28206 after 26 rounds of counting. Mokama has long been shaped by Anant Kumar Singh, who has won here repeatedly, switching parties but maintaining his hold. This year, he contested on a JD(U) ticket after emerging victorious from legal troubles. The RJD had fielded Veena Devi to challenge him.
