At least three jawans of the Indian Army lost their lives when an avalanche hit an Army post in Kupwara’s Machil Sector on Friday, 2 February.

The post is located near the LoC in J-K.

On 31 January, the Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment had issued an avalanche warning in several districts of J-K after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake jolted the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, the tremors of which were felt as far down as New Delhi.
