Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai is set to lead the first large public conference of his newly launched movement, ‘We The Leaders’, in Pollachi on Sunday. The event will focus on the theme “Drug-Free Tamil Nadu” and aims to spread awareness about the growing need to fight drug abuse across the state.
The conference will begin at 4 pm at Achipatti, near Pollachi. Organisers expect thousands of people from different districts of Tamil Nadu to attend the programme.

First major event after Annamalai’s political shift
The conference carries special importance because it is Annamalai’s first major public programme after stepping down as the Tamil Nadu BJP president and launching ‘We The Leaders’ as a public movement.
The event is expected to showcase the movement’s future direction and introduce its larger plans to involve people in social causes through public participation and awareness campaigns.
Large venue prepared to welcome thousands
Organisers have made extensive arrangements for the conference by creating a spacious convention area that can accommodate nearly 20,000 participants.
To ensure that everyone can watch the programme, even if they are unable to enter the main hall, giant LED screens have been installed outside the venue. These screens will broadcast the conference live so visitors can follow every part of the event.
Pollachi’s identity reflected in the conference setup
The venue has been decorated with visuals celebrating Pollachi’s natural beauty and local heritage. Images of the famous Aliyar Dam and the region’s well-known coconut groves have been used throughout the conference space.
According to the organisers, the decorations have been designed to highlight Pollachi’s unique cultural identity while creating an attractive atmosphere for visitors attending the event.
Cultural performances to spread anti-drug awareness
Before the main speeches begin, the conference will feature a series of cultural programmes carrying strong anti-drug messages.
Music, dance and other artistic performances have been planned to educate people about the dangers of narcotic substances. The organisers hope these performances will encourage families, students and especially young people to actively support efforts to build a drug-free society.
Annamalai expected to outline the movement’s vision
The highlight of the programme will be Annamalai’s keynote address.
He is expected to explain the objectives of ‘We The Leaders’ and present the movement’s vision for achieving a drug-free Tamil Nadu. His speech is likely to focus on creating public awareness, encouraging community involvement and running long-term social campaigns against drug abuse across the state.
