Rampur police in Uttar Pradesh has arrested the two aides of the Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan for their involvement in the anti-CAA clashes.

The police also said that there are 11 more accused who are still at large.

Rampur District Magistrate, Aujeneya Kumar, told that the two persons, namely Zia and Faizan, who are directly linked to the SP leader Azam Khan have been arrested.

“These two came into focus when the local clerics and the district officials were trying to pacify people and these two were seen actually provoking the mob. They have both been arrested,” the District Magistrate told IANS.

During a raid at the residences of the two, 15 country-made firearms and a pistol was recovered, official said.

The official also told that another accused Parvez who is allegedly an aide of Azam has worked as Azam Khan’s driver-cum-assistant.

“Besides, there are ten more persons who are closely linked to Azam Khan and have been involved in protests and violence. We are in the process of arresting them,” Kumar said.

The anti-CAA protests which triggered nationwide protests had turned violent in several parts of the Uttar Pradesh. As per the reports, 16 deaths were reported from different parts of the state as well as several were injured.
