( The ultimate elixir of life lies beneath the depths of the human heart, which is neither wealth nor fame but only love and just love)
Rabindranath Tagore
The lines above literally translates to the eternal desire of the human heart for pure love and being loved, a flame which burns silently in all of us, often eclipsed by the upheavals of a selfish world around.
But not for everyone, a fact which makes the world a better place to be in.
One of those who have been blessed by this sacred, selfless emotion is Sanjit and Trisha, who are formally known as Sanjit Baran Saha and Trisha Saha.
They met each other at a cutthroat professional venue dotted with rugged exposure to disturbed lives and problem-solving, the challenging place of customer care. Sanjit was senior to Trisha, both of whom were not the typical 90’s generation. Rather, they were the 80’s children who entered their professional lives at the onset of the last decade of the 20th century, a time which changed India’s economy and alongside the mindset of its multitude. It was during this watershed moment that the two of them nurtured certain sweet nothings for each other over a period of time.
But when quizzed today, what made them fall in love just before their 30th marriage anniversary, Sanjit says a priceless truth: ‘love knows no reason’.
Trisha, however, says it was his innocent simplicity as an honest and ideal human being which made a mark in her mind. Point to be noted, Sanjit lived upto that initial impression of his with utmost grace and continuity till this day, where strangers at home find it difficult to believe that Sanjit is not the son but the son-in-law of Trisha’s family.
Trisha said, “Everything said about Sanjit in his praise is too frugal in front of the epitome of humanity, which he is.”
Sanjit’s inherent softness notwithstanding, it was he who took everyone by surprise by heading straight to Trisha’s parents with a proposal for marriage to their daughter.  The proposal was accepted owing to the groom-to-be’s extraordinary reputation as a superb human being, but not without the inevitable financial apprehension that no middle-class home in the mid-nineties would end without.
The wedding happened on 16 January 1996.
It was a rainy day in the month of January.
It rained cats and dogs that evening, causing a part of the decorations to collapse, tainting a dear uncle of theirs’s newly purchased white sweater red, a marriage memento he retains to this day.
A common family friend of theirs  who was invited twice, once by Trisha’s parents and before that by Sanjit’s, couldn’t fathom for a long time that it was the same marriage which he was being invited to on the same date, same year and that it was Sanjit after all who was getting married to Trisha and vice versa!!!
Before the ceremony, their courtship romance touched many historical legacies of North Kolkata, notably the famed commercial stage Sarkarina, where the two of them went to watch a very popular play featuring the iconic Miss Shefali. There, Trisha was greeted by her paternal uncle and his family, which led them to fly from the place at halftime. They would often pass chits of paper to each other in the office with special outing plans like a movie show or something else written on them with boxes of ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to tick.
After marriage, it has been a roller coaster ride so far with Trisha, the effervescent livewire who lives her life with zest and Sanjit, ‘the calm to her chaos’ as said by their daughter. She spends, but never hides it from him; he calculates and guides her on the right track. She screams, he remains unperturbed. He struggled without letting her know, she happily trudged on, depending on him, her ‘friend, philosopher and guide’. They shared, they squabbled, they enjoyed and they fought their fate with unseen togetherness that comes out in their words making the truth behind the holy fire of unison the ultimate gospel of their lives.
Sanjit is an ardent cricket fan, which once made him throw his patience and dance when India won much to Trisha’s surprise, soon after their marriage.
They did face uncertainties discharging the usual duties of life, but their mutual dependence, planning and rationality saw them come out with flying colors through thick and thin.
At the end of it all, Trisha’s boss tells Trisha that she was lucky to get Sanjit in her life, an eulogy which she receives from all and sundry, making Trisha prouder of him.
Both of them advise adjustment, being respectful and transparent for a happy life to all.
That ends the story of a shy boy and a smart girl whose mutual goodness became an example of a perfect marriage.
