A college teacher was killed and his son critically injured after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding jeep driven by an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of MP Police, allegedly in an intoxicated condition, in the Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh late at night on Friday.

As per the police, the mishap occurred near Bhadbhadia village on the Neemuch-Jawad road.

The ASI, Manoj Yadav, hit several bikes on the road with his private Bolero jeep. In the mishap, Dasharath Singh (42), a college teacher, was killed, while his 10-year-old son Harshit suffered critical injuries in both legs, which had to be amputated to save his life. Dashrath’s wife Lalita (35) and daughter Jaya (6) also suffered injuries.

Another motorcyclist, identified as Bhupaal Singh (44), was also seriously injured as the ASI’s jeep hit his bike too.

A couple of more bikes were damaged, and some people sustained minor injuries in the same mishap.

The relatives of deceased Dasharath staged a protest after the mishap, demanding strict action against ASI Manoj Yadav and financial compensation to Dasharath’s family.
