Lal Bahadur Shastri, the former Prime Minister of India, died a mysterious death in Tashkent 52 years back. On his death anniversary, director and member of CBFC Vivek Agnihotri announced a film on the mystery of his death. There are no revelations yet about the cause of the death of the Prime minister.

The Filmmaker released the information on Twitter, on Thursday, saying, “On this day, 10th Jan 1966, in Tashkent a tiny man called Lal Bahadur Shashtri who won a war with Pakistan, soon after a humiliating defeat with China, signed the Tashkent treaty. Hours later he died. A death mystery unsolved to date. Why? On this day, our 2nd PM Lal Bahadur Shashtri died mysteriously in Tashkent. Was it a heart attack or poison? Even after 52 yrs, the truth of the biggest cover-up of free India has been denied to his family, followers, citizens. After years of research, I present #TheTashkentFiles (sic),”

Though the lead actor who will be playing the role of Lal Bahadur Shastri has not been disclosed yet, Vivek Agnihotri has chosen Naseeruddin Shah and Mithun Chakraborty to be a part of the film already.
