Folk singer Malini Awasthi is all praise, or at least all approval, over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for the Women’s Reservation Bill. The singer shared her thoughts with IANS, celebrating the Prime Minister’s focus on women empowerment across India.
Malini said, “I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I thank and express my gratitude to all the women of India. We are a country where people worship women. And finally, the responsibility of highlighting women’s political issues, which had been ignored for so long, has been addressed.”

She credited the PM’s various welfare initiatives as evidence of his commitment to women. From Ujjwala Yojana to the installation of safe toilets in remote villages, Malini pointed out that these programs show a continued focus on women’s safety and empowerment.
She also mentioned Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, noting that women’s issues have consistently been part of the PM’s vision.
Women in politics: Malini says they can outperform men
The singer didn’t stop at praising programs. She made a statement about women in governance: “We have seen in the Gram Pradhani that when they empower women at smaller units, the impact reached the top. I am sure whether it is a woman from a village, a city, a social worker, a teacher, or from any field, when she comes to Parliament, she will perform her duties more efficiently than men. Women have the ability to manage and govern better.”
