Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh will become the first Indian film to release in IMAX 3D, an achievement which has never been accomplished before in India.

After much controversy and trouble from Kerni Sena and other fringe groups who claims that the film has distorted historical facts, the film is finally getting its worldwide release on January 25. The film was earlier titled as Padmavati but after certain modifications from the CBFC, the film’s title was changed to Padmaavat.

Padmaavat based on the life of Rajput queen, Rani Padmini, is scheduled to release on 25 January and now the filmmakers have decided to release the film in IMAX 3D technology across the globe.

The latest progress to film came when the new and improvised trailer of the film was released on January 15 with the change in the name of the title and certain modifications.

According to a statement from the makers of the film, Padmaavat is a tribute to the valour of Rajputs and it would be a delight to see them on large screen in different formats.

“Padmaavat’ is our magnum opus – a tribute to Rajput valour created at a scale that will be a delight to watch on the large screen. The film will witness a mega-scale release across maximum screens, languages and formats covering 2D, 3D & Imax 3D in India and the world. Padmaavat will create its own benchmark as an immortal classic when it releases across the world on the 25th of January,” Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures said.

The controversy-ridden drama has finally got its release date after events which shocked the nation and is all set to hit the big screen worldwide on January 25.
