Kai Po Che turns 13, and producer Pragya Kapoor digs into unseen memories while revealing what continues to make Sushant Singh Rajput’s Ishaan so moving.
As Kai Po Che completed 13 years since its release, producer Pragya Kapoor took a trip down memory lane and shared why the late Sushant Singh Rajput’s character Ishaan still means the most to her.
To mark the film’s anniversary, Pragya hosted an Ask Me Anything session on Instagram, where fans quizzed her about behind-the-scenes moments from the coming-of-age drama.

When asked about the toughest part of filming, she admitted the shoot was far from easy. According to her, the cricket scenes were especially demanding because of the harsh heat and the need to capture the matches from multiple angles.

First film, first big learning
Looking back at her favourite memory, Pragya shared that it was her very first time being on a movie set, something she still remembers clearly.
She fondly mentioned the daily breakfast buffet and the excitement of watching the entire film finally come together in the edit.

She said that moment of seeing the finished product was deeply satisfying after all the hard work.

Why Ishaan still resonates
Talking about the character she connects with the most, Pragya named Ishaan, played by Sushant. According to her, the character’s unwavering belief is what makes him special.
She noted that Ishaan is a reminder that strong faith and believe in one’s dreams can turn big ambitions into reality.

An emotional first screening
Pragya also recalled the film’s early screenings for close friends and members of the industry. The response, she said, seeing everyone’s genuine reaction with warmth and encouragement, made it better.

She remembered getting emotional during that phase, saying the positive reactions left her teary-eyed and grateful for how the film had shaped up.
About the film
Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Kai Po Che also starred Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh in key roles. The film is based on Chetan Bhagat’s 2008 novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life.
Set in Ahmedabad, the story follows three friends as they navigate friendship, ambition and the changing social landscape around them.

Speaking with The Statesman, the Masoom director while talking about getting Paani on the floor, said that everyone was saying that the film was very expensive.
The closure report stated that there was no evidence of illegal confinement or abetment of suicide against Rhea who had lived with Sushant until just days before his death.
