Child artiste Jacob Tremblay says he felt a deep connection with his Wonder character Auggie Pullman.

Also starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson, Wonder tells the story of a 10-year-old boy (Tremblay), born with facial deformities who makes the transition from home schooling to a private school. The film is directed by American novelist, screenwriter and film director Stephen Chbosky.

“It all came with ease because I felt Auggie’s story was so important to tell. The most exciting part for me was getting to be a kid who helps the world be a better place,” Tremblay said in a statement.

“I thought the book was super, super good and it made my mom cry. It’s about Auggie’s struggle to fit in, and it’s also about making people feel comfortable instead of scared. I would read this binder every day, especially before a really serious scene to help me prepare,” he added.

“Wonder” is set to release in India on December 1 by PVR Pictures.
