Michael Mann’s adaptation of his own original movie was a classic! From the direction to the performances of the cast, everything was in place for this masterpiece. The crime/drama film was high on action and an intriguing plot added to the pack of offerings the film had. One of the best reasons to watch this classic film is Al Pacino and Robert Di Nero! The film featured two of the most iconic actors of all time and even shared screen space in the famous coffee shop scene unlike their previous outing together, The Godfather 2.

Scarface (1983)

Whenever you hear the name Scarface, the name Tony Montana strikes your thought! Reason being the commendable performance of Al Pacino. Like many of his previous films, Scarface carved the way for Pacino in Hollywood to become the leading man of the 80s and early 90s. True Lies (1994)

Director James Cameron left the Sci-fi side for a while when he directed action/comedy, True Lies. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s casting as the lead actor was the best decision as the movie required someone strong and huge, who had a larger than life persona to take on a terrorist organisation.

Original film: La Totale! (1991)

True Grit (2010)

The Coen brothers did justice to this masterpiece! Something Henry Hathaway failed to deliver in the original. What do you get when you mix great actors and an interesting plot? Masterpiece! The remake starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin was better than the original in every way possible. The direction, performance, background score, cinematography and dialogues, the directors justified why there was a need for a remake of the cult classic.

Original film: True Grit (1969)

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988)

The much-needed remake which became the saving grace for the original version’s legacy is a must watch for all fans who prefer the genre, comedy, any day. Directed by Frank Oz, the film is infamous for its tacky dialogue delivery and the performances of the scoundrels, Michael Caine and Steve Martin. The film focused more on the dialogues and slapstick comedy, which is one of the reasons to watch this Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. You can expect a laugh riot while watching this film!

The Departed (2006)

Martin Scorsese proves again why he is the master of crime/drama. The Departed is one of the finest works in the career of Scorsese. The film, which had an ensemble cast lived up to the expectations of fans and critics and grabbed every major award at the Oscars. The movie is also popular for the intriguing storyline and its cast and was a commercial success. And, of course, the name Martin Scorsese attached to it.

Talking about ensemble cast! How can we forget the Danny Ocean and his team who are considered the coolest thieves ever? Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean Eleven is regarded as one of the best heist films. The film also was popular among women as the main leads cast in the film are all considered sex symbol, George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt.
