Hollywood’s latest offering to its Indian fan base has emerged as a success story in the country as the film has collected Rs 33.40 crore in its opening weekend.
Deadpool 2 starring Ryan Reynolds in the titular role has been winning hearts in India and the fans here have given a big thumbs up to the film by calling it as even better than the previous instalment, which was another breakthrough in the superhero genre.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the film’s three day weekend business on his social media handles.
Deadpool 2 kickstarted its innings at the box office in India with a bang by collecting Rs 11.25 crore on day one. The film also had the fourth best opening day in India only behind films such as Avengers: Infinity War (another Hollywood film), Baaghi 2 and Padmaavat.
Interestingly, the film’s weekend business in the country is among the best opening weekends in India. The film’s Rs 33 crore plus in just three days shows that Hollywood has a much bigger market in India than expcted.
2018 has been a terrific year so far and an exceptional year for Hollywood as within just five months two Hollywood films have stood toe-to-toe with Bollywood’s biggies.
Interestingly, Avengers 3 is the second highest grossing films of 2018 and the biggest opener of 2018 even surpassing the likes of Baaghi 2 and Padmaavat.
Deadpool 2 is no less as the film has made its impact at the box office over the opening weekend and now is heading towards the first week at the box office.
It’ll be interesting to see how the film will perform in its opening week as for Hollywood films the opening week’s collections determine its lifetime business in India.
Nonetheless, there is no harm in saying that Deadpool 2‘s dark humour, quirky one liners and stellar performances has brought in huge number of Indian fans in cinema houses, who have loved the film.
Deadpool 2 also starring Josh Brolin, Karan Soni, Julian Dennison and T J Miller alongside Reynolds was released worldwide on May 18.
