Bollywood fans, get ready because Rani is making her comeback! Reports are buzzing that Kangana Ranaut will reprise her iconic role in ‘Queen 2’, almost ten years after the first film captured hearts. Filming is expected to kick off by the end of April.
The original ‘Queen’, released in 2014, told the story of a small-town girl finding herself on an unexpected European adventure. The film became a career-defining moment for Kangana, and the sequel promises to revisit the spirit of independence and self-discovery.

Rani’s new chapter from small town to city streets
Unlike the first movie, ‘Queen 2’ is not taking Rani abroad. Mid-Day says the sequel will follow her as a city-based character, navigating life across multiple Indian cities.
Her independent, sharp, and unconventional personality will remain intact. But the story will explore a new journey of self-realisation triggered by a major life event.
Who’s joining Kangana this time?
Here’s where things change: the original cast, including Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon, is reportedly not returning.
Director Vikas Bahl is said to be assembling a new ensemble, with several theatre actors likely to join as supporting characters.
Back in October 2018, the industry was rocked when a former Phantom Films employee came forward in a Huffington Post India interview, accusing the queen director of sexual harassment.
Kangana Ranaut publicly backed former employee and added her voice to the chorus.
Even Nayani Dixit, who starred alongside Kangana in Queen, reportedly came forward with similar claims.
The fallout was swift. On 5 October 2018, Phantom Films announced its dissolution, citing the sexual assault allegation against Bahl (dating back to 2015) as a key reason.
Co-founders Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena all took to Twitter to confirm the company’s disbanding and shared that they were moving on to independent projects.
After the dust settled, Kashyap and Motwane made formal statements denouncing Bahl’s alleged misconduct.
