Music composer Ismail Darbar, popular for his composition in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films like ‘Devdas’ and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, recently made headlines for his outdated and controversial views on his daughter-in-law Gauahar Khan.

In an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Darbar revealed that he does not support Gauahar continuing her career after marriage and motherhood.

“The greatest thing my wife Ayesh did was stop working for her child’s sake,” he said. He added that Ayesh was earning around Rs 5 lakh per month from shows and acting offers but chose to prioritize family over work, even during times when the family could have used the money.

While sharing his views, Darbar also emphasized that he does not interfere with Gauahar’s choices. “I can’t tell her not to work; that right belongs only to Zaid,” he said, referring to his son. He further explained, “I come from a backward family. We used to turn away whenever a sensuous type of scene came in a movie. This happens in our house even today. Gauahar is a part of our family now, and we are responsible for her reputation. But I don’t indulge in activities that might bother me.”

Darbar also added, “I’m not one to mince my words. I know that I will not be able to tolerate what I see, and if I am not able to tolerate what I see, I will confront them.”

Gauahar Khan married Zaid Darbar in 2020, when he was just 20 years old. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Zehaan, in 2023, and earlier this year, they became parents to a second son, Farwaan.
