Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal and former supermodel Mehr Jesia, who had been married for 20 years, have announced their separation. There had been speculations or some time now that they might part ways.

Mehr and Arjun have two daughters, Mahikaa (16) and Myra (13).

In a joint statement, the couple said they were ending their relationship on a cordial note, and that they would always be there for each other and for their daughters.

“After a 20 year long beautiful journey filled with love and beautiful memories, we would like to share, that all journeys have different paths and we feel that it is time for us to move on to different destinations henceforth,” the two said in the statement.

“We have always been solid when it has come to us, we will continue to be solid for each other and our loved ones, as we embark upon a new journey. Both of us being extremely private people feel strange to be making this statement, but such are the circumstances of our lives. Where the truth can get distorted and lost,” the statement added.

Requesting privacy, the two said, “Both of us being extremely private people feel strange to be making this statement, but such are the circumstances of our lives. We are a family, our love for each other is forever intact and we shall always be there for one another and most importantly, for our children Mahikaa and Myra. We would, therefore, appreciate our privacy through this time. Thank all for their support. Relationships can end, but love lives on.”

Arjun and Mehr said they would not comment on this any further.

In 2015, there were rumours that the couple had filed for divorce after both were spotted at a Bandra court. Later, Arjun took to his Twitter handle and dismissed the reports.

The two own a production company Chasing Ganesha, through which they produced the film I See You (2006), which also starred Arjun.
