Just a month out from co-leading the pack of nominees at this year’s MTV Video Music Award’s, Ariana Grande also leads this year’s crop of nominations for the 2019 MTV EMA. She has scored a total of seven nominations including Best Video, Best Artist, and Best Song. But she’s got stiff competition from Lil Nas X, Shawn Mendes, Billie Eilish, who each nabbed six nominations at the VMA’s.

Latin American supersonic singer J Balvin is nominated in five categories, and Lizzo and Taylor Swift both received four. This year has seen new popstars come on board including Lizzo, Mabel, Lewis Capaldi, and Ava Max. This actually indicates that the year 2020 could look even wilder.

Mendes’ collaboration with Camila Cabello on “Senorita” also earned a Best Song nomination. Grande’s “7 rings,” Eilish’s “bad guy,” Lil Nas X’s smash hit “Old Town Road (Remix),” and Post Malone and Swae Lee’s “Sunflower” round out the category.

Eilish, Lil Nas X and Lizzo will fight for Best New Artist, alongside Ava Max, Lewis Capaldi and Mabel.
