West Bengal: Pooja pandal burnt, Goddess Saraswati idol set on fire

Pooja Pandal in Howrah district of West Bengal on Sunday night was allegedly vandalized by some people whose liquor shops at the spot were closed by locals earlier. The untoward incident took place at Green Star Club in Howrah’s Dasnagar area of Howrah.

If the media reports are to be believed the unidentified men didn’t only vandalise the pandal, but also set the idols of Goddess Saraswati on fire.

The national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party Sambit Patra took to Twitter in connection with the incident and launched an attack on Congress President Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

He tweeted: “Now where are the “Fancydress Hindus”? ..”Janeaudhari” Rahul Ji & “Bhagwat Gita distributing” Mamta Banerjee ji ..No comments on intolerance as yet??”

According to the reports, after 2 AM, people noticed fire and rushed with buckets of water.

It is being told that the police has been informed about the incident and further details are awaited.
