Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state incharge Mangal Pandey on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on chief minister (CM) Virbhadra Singh on the issue of corruption and appealed to the voters of Arki in Solan district to not to vote for a person who is out on bail on corruption charges.

While addressing mediapersons in Arki in Solan district from where Singh is contesting elections, Pandey said the CM does not respect the electorate of the constituency.

“Even before winning the elections, Singh had equated the voters of the Arki constituency with animals and anyone can guess as to what he would do for the area after the elections,” he said.

Apart from having the distinction of being the only CM in the country to occupy the post while on bail, Singh had failed to provide honest and efficient governance to the people, he said.

Accusing the Congress government of shielding the accused in Gudia gangrape and murder case, Pandey said eight members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the government has been arrested by the CBI.

Even the CM had termed the ghastly crime as small incident that keep happening in the state, he said, adding the electorate of the Arki should respond to such insensitive statements by voting in favour of BJP.

He said the main agenda of the party in ensuing assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh was to provide development-oriented corruption free and efficient governance to the people.

“BJP would work towards ending the mafia raj in the state and maintain law and order situation as was the case with party ruled states in the country,” he said, adding BJP’s government in HP would lead to enhanced pace of development in the state.

Ensuring the safety of women, providing job opportunities to unemployed, doubling the income of farmers and launching schemes for the welfare of apple orchardists would also be the priority of the party if voted to power, he added.
