Vice President M Hamid Ansari on Wednesday condoled the passing away of Rajya Sabha MP Abdul Salam. Ansari said Salam will be remembered for his service to the people of Manipur.
"I am deeply grieved to hear about the demise of Shri Abdul Salam, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. A senior parliamentarian from Manipur, Shri Salam will be remembered for his service to the people of the State. I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved members of the family and join the nation in praying for eternal peace for the departed soul,” said in a message.
Congress leader Abdul Salam, 69, passed away on Tuesday night following a brief illness.

Salam, representing the state in the Upper House since 2014, is the first Manipuri Muslim to be a member of Rajya Sabha from Manipur.
He was elected to the 3rd, 6th and 8th Manipur Legislative Assembly from Wabagai Assembly constituency.
