Utkal Alumina covers 1 lack people in healthcare-at-doorstep scheme

At least one lakh people of 48 villages in and around Kasipur area of Rayagada district are being covered by the healthcare at doorstep programme of Utkal Alumina.

The regular visits by doctors and referral treatment to patients at the company’s health centre at Nuapada has been appreciated by the villagers as well as the district administration.

Patients like Hari Singh, 60, from Hadiguda village of Rayagada district, who used to frequently suffer from dyspepsia, flatulence and an unwell stomach shower praise on the health care scheme of the company as he was spotted , diagnosed and treated at the health centre.

The Health Centre at Nuapada, with three fulltime competent and experienced doctors and seven para-medical staffers, has some top-of-the-line facilities like a sophisticated pathological laboratory, auto analyzer and audiometric equipment.

It rendered timely service to 82,144 patients in the last year, said doctors. Chief District Medical Officer of Rayagada says the villages in remote areas have got access to health care services rendered by the company.

N. Nagesh, president and Unit Head of Utkal Alumina, said “ Health Care Centre provides the finest health care services to people and in days to come the company will further accelerate the pace of these initiatives.”

“The company is constructing a 50-bed, fullfledged multi-specialty hospital at its Oshapada residential complex, which will be operational very shortly. The entire society around Utkal Alumina refinery and mines will immensely benefit from this facility once it goes on stream.”
