Two held for smuggling illegal ammunitions

The special cell of Delhi Police claimed to have arrested two member of an interstate syndicate involved in smuggling illegal ammunitions across the country.

The accused have been identified as Sandeep Yadav, 25 and Mahipal, 42. Police have recovered 950 cartridges of .315 bore and 360 cartridges of .32 bore from their possession.

PS Kushwah, deputy commissioner of police, special cell said: “This is one of the biggest recoveries of ammunitions this year. During investigation it was revealed that Sandeep’s brother Sanjeev Yadav operated a gun house in Aligarh.”

The DCP further said that the recovered ammunitions were supposed to deliver in Delhi and NCR. “Mahipal told police that he was supplying ammunitions here from last three years. He used to procure it from Sandeep’s brother in Aligarh. 360 live cartridges were recovered from his possession. A case under section 25 Arms Act was registered at Special Cell police station against him,” DCP said.

During interrogation, Mahipal revealed that his associate Sandeep Yadav was also here to deliver consignment of 950 live cartridges. “On his instance, Sandeep Yadav was arrested and 950 more live illegal cartridges of .32 and .315 bore were recovered from his possession,” DCP said.

Sandeep told police that his brother has gun house license. “He came into the contact of several criminals of Delhi and UP and started supplying illegal ammunitions to them on higher prices.

They along with their associates are supplying the ammunitions to the criminals for more than three years and had supplied more than 20,000 cartridges to the criminals of Delhi and UP till date,” DCP said
