Three kids dead due to snake bite in Odisha
Three children died and a woman was seriously injured in two different snake bite incidents in Odisha, police said on Tuesday.
A shocking case of superstition came to the fore when a sorcerer was engaged to resurrect a dead man within the hospital premises in a rural area in Thakurmunda of Karanjia sub division.
Twenty-eight-year-old Dilip Mohanta of Rugudisahi village died due to snake bite. He was sleeping in his house when the venomous snake bite him. His parents rushed him to the Karanjia Sub-Divisional hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
They discharge the body and informed Thakurmunda police. Before the police reached to the hospital, the parents of deceased called a tantric.

The widespread belief with regards to cure of poison cases, particularly snake bites led the parents to engage the tantric to try and bring Dilip back to life.
The parents took the body and placed it in front of the hospital. The tantric reached to spot and assured them to bring back deceased life which the time was around 9 am.
The sorcerer started performing rituals. He even used a branch of a neem tree to repeatedly strike the corpse with it. The drama continued for a while.
Several curious people gathered. Some of the hospital staff were amongst the onlookers. It was only when the police reached the spot that the rituals stopped.
The police started clearing people and directing an end to all that was going on. In the meantime, the tantric fled from the spot fearing arrest.
Thakurmunda Officer In Charge, Mr B K Das said the tantric had assured the parents that he would resurrect Dilip. A case of unnatural death has been registered and the body sent for autopsy, he added.
