SJDA to work outside Siliguri, J’guri areas

Chairman of the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Devlopment Authority, Sourav Chakraborty today announced that the SJDA is ready to start developmental work in every area in North Bengal apart from Siliguri and Jalpaiguri. Mr Chakraborty spoke after laying the foundation stone of two projects here at the Alipurduar Mc William Higher Secondary School. Mr Chakraborty today laid the foundation stonefor two projects worth Rs10
lakh, one of an installation of a purified water project and another of beautification of the gate of the Alipurduar, McWilliam Higher Secondary School.

Alumni of teachers and student with the present faculty and students of the school were present in the program. Executive engineer of the body, Dipesh Banik was also present the program. The Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority was formed in the year 1980 under the West Bengal Town and Country (Planning and Development) act 1979. This autonomous body of the state government was formed for development of Jalpaiguri and Siliguri and this is first time it has initiated to work on areas nearby Jalpaiguri and Siliguri.

“We will do developmental work outside Siliguri-Jalpaiguri area from our deposited fund. Anyone, including MLAs and MPs are free to deposit their funds through the SJDA. We will spend the fund for the developmental work on areas nearby Siliguri and Jalpaiguri,” said the Chairman of Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority, Sourav Chakraborty.

“We will work on two projects here in the renowned institution, Mc William Higher Secondary School. The projects are worth Rs 5 lakh each and that will be used from our deposited fund,” added Mr Chakraborty. “It is fantastic news that the SJDA has decide to do developmental projects outside the Siliguri Jalpaiguri area. Our school got the fund from SJDA because of this decision. The body has sanctioned a fund of Rs 10 lakh on two important projects in the school,” said the Assistance Head Teacher of the school, Kanaj Ballav Goswami.
