Jamuria Police, under the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate (ADPC), have launched an investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body hidden beneath a bed in the Hijolgora area earlier today. Her husband, Baidyanath Patra, is currently absconding with their one-year-old child.
According to Jamuria police station, Patra was employed at the Shyam Sel factory in Jamuria and resided in Churulia. He had married Renuka Das of Nandakumar in South 24-Parganas, a few years ago.

The landlord informed police that he had overheard a quarrel between the couple yesterday. This morning, he noticed Patra leaving with the child, which aroused his suspicion. He promptly alerted the local police station. Officers from Jamuria Police arrived, forcibly entered the premises, and discovered the woman’s body wrapped in cloth and concealed beneath the bed.

Prima facie, it appears that the husband may have murdered his wife and fled. However, the motive behind the crime remains unclear.
The body has been sent to Asansol District Hospital for post-mortem examination. Investigations are underway, though no arrests have been made so far.
