Pandaveswar police under ADPC today arrested Trinamul Congress leader and schoolteacher Nitu alias Nitai Adhikary along with notorious coal and sand mafia Yudhisthir Ghosh. As they were being taken from Pandaveswar police station to Durgapur Court, agitated locals gathered, chanting slogans, hurling eggs, and attempting to snatch them from police custody.
The Enforcement Directorate had earlier raided Ghosh’s residence in connection with illegal coal and sand mining, while Adhikary faced scrutiny for inflammatory speeches during the 2026 assembly polls. “Both have been arrested on specific charges from Shyamla area in Pandaveswar and forwarded to Durgapur Court. We have sought police custody for further investigation and search operations,” said ADPC Commissioner Dr Pranav Kumar.
