CBI searches premises of ex-governor Satyapal Malik in corruption case
The searches on 30 locations are part of a probe into alleged corruption in awarding civil works for the Kiru Hydro Electric Power Project (HEP) in 2019.
The Member of Parliament (MP) from Shimla, Virender Kashyap has been chargesheeted in a corruption case, allegedly took place before the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
The charges were framed in a court in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, Kashyap was present during the court proceedings.
In the CD which was released in January 2010, Kashyap was caught on camera while accepting cash in a hotel in Solan district. Though Kashyap was not holding any public office at that time, the sting has created a furore in the state and the then BJP government was forced to order an inquiry to ascertain the veracity of the CD.However,

he was given chit in the probe.
The investigations were re-opened on the orders of the HP High Court after an RTI activist challenged the probe report. The RTI activist had contended that the investigations were not conducted in a free and fair manner and the probe was a mere sham.
In 2012, the then Congress government had reopened the case and the state Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau had filed a case against the Shimla MP in 2015.
