According to party sources, the Left Front will be supporting the Congress where they hold strong position than the Left. In the last rural body election, Left parties like the Communist Party of India- Marxist had grabbed three Panchayat Samities — Kushmandi, Harirampur and Banshihari and four Zilla Parishad seats from Kumarganj, Kushmandi, Harirampur and Banshihari respectively.

Meanwhile, from Balurghat and Tapan the result was not satisfactory. The leaders had failed to come into a cconsensus and they had to seat for several times to settle the seat allotment even they failed to form an alliance among the Left-led parties in the year 2013.

Leader of the Revolutionary Socialist Party, Biswanath Chowdhury said, “People still have faith on the left front in the rural areas. They have already experienced the activities of the TMC leaders. We have confidence that if people can successfully cast their votes then the Left front will surely secure more seats.”

“We have no dissent among us. We will be fighting as the Left front and if we feel that Congress needs our help we will support them. All the seats have been allotted according to the 2013 results. Hope the Left front will grab more seats in the upcoming rural election,” said the district Secretary of CPI-M, Narayan Biswas.
