The main accused, Ashok Kumar, 42, in the murder case of a seven-year-old child at Ryan International School, Gurgaon, was sent to judicial custody by Sohna court on Tuesday. He will be produced in the court on 18 September.
Besides, the postmortem report of the Class 2 student which came out on Tuesday stated that he was not sexually assaulted.
“Two knife marks were found on the boy’s neck, and a nerve that helps in speaking, was cut due to which the kid couldn’t shout,” said Dr Ram Prakash, Senior doctor, Civil Hospital, Gurgaon.
Ashok had allegedly slit the throat of Pradyuman Thakur with a knife in the washroom of the school. The chilling murder gained a lot of attention and parents have demanded strict action against the school management for negligence.
On Monday, two senior officials of the Ryan group of Institutions were sent for two days police remand by the Sohna court.
According to ACP Manish Sehgal, Gurgaon, they are still questioning the school staff. “After three days of police remand, Ashok was taken to court on Tuesday where he was sent to judicial custody till 18 September. No one is now detained. A separate probe team has left for Mumbai to interrogate school CEO Ryan Pinto and director Augustine Pinto,” said Sehgal.
On the other hand, the Bombay High Court, had granted Ryan and Augustine interim protection from arrest till Wednesday. The trustees of the school have filed an application in Bombay High Court seeking anticipatory transit bail to move an appropriate court in Haryana.
Police has set up 14 teams to crack the case. The Supreme Court had on Monday issued notice to the Central and Haryana governments on a plea seeking a CBI probe into the  killing. A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud issued notice to the Union Human Resource Development Ministry and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on the boy’s father’s plea seeking framing of guidelines for the safety of students in schools.
Questions have been raised by many parents over police investigation as many believe that Ashok has been made a scapegoat.
