The ruling coalition partners PDP and BJP are vying to take credit on the issue of establishing a medical university in Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on her twitter says that she is fulfilling the dream of her father Mufti Sayeed, whereas the health minister Bali Bhagat claims that the idea was mooted by him much earlier when he constituted a committee for this purpose.

What is unfortunate, is that some doctors of the health department have resorted to mud-slinging on the social media by criticising Mehbooba for taking credit for setting in motion the process for establishing the first-ever medical university in the state. A senior doctor of the  Medical College Jammu accused the PDP of “not digesting” the health minister’s move.
