The site of the incident is reportedly a factory where small iron stands used for displaying items outside shops were manufactured.
Forensic teams were called in to inspect the site. Police have registered a case under relevant sections related to negligence and endangering human life. Additionally, Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been invoked following Akram’s death.
An investigation is currently underway. Authorities are examining whether safety norms were ignored or if the premises were structurally unsound or poorly maintained.
Notably, a similar incident occurred on July 12, when a four-storey building collapsed in Seelampur, North-East Delhi, killing six people including a toddler and injuring several others who were trapped under the debris.
At the time, Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra alleged that the tragedy was a result of successive governments ignoring rampant illegal construction.
