One dead, another Injured in Delhi in suspected drink-and-drive case

One person died while another got injured after being hit by a car on 11 Murti Road in the wee hours of Sunday. The driver of the car, reportedly identified as Ashish, was detained by the police.

In a statement issued here today, the police said, “One person is dead, and another injured, after they were hit by a car on 11 Murti Road earlier today. The car driver has been detained.”

During a preliminary investigation, the police found a liquor bottle inside the car. However, they are yet to ascertain the cause of the accident and if the driver was, in fact, under the influence of alcohol at the time of accident.

According to reports, the car, registered under the name of Ankit Adnani, a resident of Ahimsa Khand, Ghaziabad, was being driven by 26-year-old Ashish, his friend. Additionally, the 26-year-old, a resident of Shakarpur, was on his way home from the Dhaula Kuan area of the city.
